xREZ Art+Science lab brings together artists, scientists, and humanists in a dynamic process to create new ways of seeing and knowing: to invent and innovate, to create new knowledge and cultural forms. Collaboration: Led by Prof. Ruth West, the lab is currently located at the University of North Texas (UNT) Campus in Denton, Texas. As the nation’s 25th largest public university and the largest, most comprehensive in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, UNT is dedicated to providing an excellent educational experience to its 36,000 students while powering the North Texas region, state and nation through innovative education and research. xREZ Art+Science Lab establishes a novel and rapidly growing research and creative hub for the region. With active national and international collaborations that include UT Dallas, University of Washington, Oregon State University, University of Vermont, Washington University St. Louis, TACC (Texas Advanced Computing Center) at UT Austin, University of Tasmania and more, the lab is positioned to deliver far-reaching global impact. Innovation: xREZ innovates by designing novel collaborative methods that make possible research and creative work across disparate domains. This leads to new insight, artistic and aesthetic encounters, cultural forms, technologies (R&D), educational opportunities and private, industry and community partnerships. xREZ advances the arts and sciences to create the next generation of thought leaders and creative catalysts: analytic artists, aesthetic engineers, and artistic scientists! Impact: Our goal is to alter the landscape of human endeavor to create transformative impact on our world and our future.
